New Orleans Film Society lands $15,000 grant from NEA | NOLA.com

The National Endowment of the Arts has awarded a $15,000 NEA Art Works grant to the New Orleans Film Society to help support next year's 24th annual New Orleans Film Festival as well as the society's year-round screenings. The film society was among 832 nonprofits nationwide to receive grants through the Art Works program.

"We are incredibly honored to receive this support from such a prestigious organization," film society executive director Jolene Pinder said in a news release. "Our festival has grown tremendously in the last three years. This support from the National Endowment for the Arts will only help us continue to grow and in turn support more filmmakers from Louisiana and beyond."

The announcement follows by nearly two months the film society's 23rd New Orleans Film Festival, which screened more than 200 films, hosted 175 visiting filmmakers and drew more than 17,000 attendees.

It's the first time the film society has received at Art Works grant. For a complete listing of projects recommended for Art Works grant support, visit the NEA website.
